HOPEWELL - MERRY CHRISTMAS

The angel said (to the startled and terrified shepherds), "Don't be afraid. I'm here to announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody, worldwide: A Savior has just been born in David's town, a Savior who is Messiah and Master.

- Luke 2:10-11

Merry Christmas!

I pray that each of you will be startled by the Holy One. And, I pray that you will be filled with awe, wonder, curiosity, and overflowing joy as you celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, our Savior!

If you have a nativity set, I want you to take a good look at baby Jesus. If not, please imagine for a moment. In some sets, Jesus is swaddled as Luke describes. In others, baby Jesus' arms are wide open, as though they are reaching out to be picked up and embraced. I want to invite you to imagine baby Jesus' arms reaching out to you today, and picture yourself embracing him, holding him tight. Feel the love he offers you! And, give thanks to God.

Thank you for embracing me as your pastor and my family. Thank you also for the Christmas gift you gave us. It was quite a generous and joyful surprise!

With hope, peace, joy, and love,

Pastor Wendy
